A community event run by volunteers - proud to be part of Ashby de la Zouch
Ashby Arts Festival is famous for its Giant Outdoor Gallery! Each year many businesses around the town centre display huge paintings done by local professional and amateur artists. With a huge range of styles and images this is accessible “Street Art” for all!
This year we are celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the National Gallery. This event has local relevance as Sir George Beaumont of Coleorton Hall played a key role in the founding of this great national institution. Our festival will also include a film created by Pudding Bag Productions telling the story of his involvement.
Amateur and professional artists, schools and community groups are creating a colourful gallery of celebratory paintings all of which have been inspired by an painting in the National Gallery’s collection.
The gallery will be in place from 2nd May to 10th July and once the boards are in place you will be able to download a map here of all the locations and follow the trail! If you don’t have access to mobile technology, a limited number of paper trail maps will be available from Fair 2 All on Bath Street and in Ashby Library
From 2nd May to 10th July, FREE.
Here is our Gallery Trail showing where each piece of artwork is located, and who has painted the piece.
