2017 Galleries and Competitions
Ashby Arts festival is famous for its giant outdoor gallery! Each year many businesses around the town centre display huge paintings done by local professional and amateur artists. With a huge range of styles and images this is accessible “Street Art” for all!
This year the theme is “All the world’s a stage”. See up to 40 8×4 foot artworks displayed on buildings around town. There is also a Children’s section with a series of 4 foot square boards. You can collect an Art around Town leaflet from Ashby TIC or download one here and follow the trail.
From Mon 15th May to Sat 10th June, FREE.
The Festival Galleries
At the heart of the festival are the Festival Galleries which host our annual Art and Photography Exhibitions at Ivanhoe College.View and buy high quality art from both professional and amateur artists. Visit our gallery “Art Cafe” for refreshments, see artists at work and even create some art of your own. See the entrants and winners of our 2016 Photography Competition alongside an inspiring display of photographs from Ashby Camera Club.
New this year is our Sculpture Exhibition at St Helens Heritage Centre where you can see and buy the work of talented professional and amateur sculptors. Refreshments and WC are available.

Cryptic Art Exhibition
A glorious range of art and crafts for sale in the atmospheric church crypt. With refreshments, parking and WC.

Ashby Arts Festival Open Art Exhibition
Amateur or professional artists (age 16+) are invited to exhibit and sell their artwork in our Open Exhibition.
Prizes: Best in Show £100, Runners-up Prize £50.00, judged by a panel of professional artists. People’s Prize £50, voted for by the general public. Closing date for entry 15th May 2017.

Ashby Arts Festival Open 3D Sculpture Exhibition
Amateur or professional sculptors (age 16+) are invited to exhibit and sell their artwork in our Open Exhibition.
Trophies will be awarded for the Private Viewing Choice and People’s Choice. Closing date for entries is 8th May 2017.Download and application pack here.
Ashby Arts Festival Open Photography Exhibition
Enter up to 3 of your photos in our open photography competition and you could win one of our prizes.
Prizes: 1ST £100, 2ND £50, 3RD £25, Closing Date

Ashby Arts Festival Children’s Creativity Competitions
School years 1-6 can have drawing and creating based on the poem “There was an old lady”. The competition worksheet which you can download here.
Years 7-9 can enter Graphic Story Competition and create a comic strip tale. Prizes and trophies kindly sponsored by Specsavers!

Ashby Retailer’s Window Trail and Quiz
Follow the trail of decorated windows around town – based on our theme of “All the World’s a Stage”. Complete the quiz and you may win a prize!
